(MPI) – On July 4th 2017, at the headquarters of the MPI, Deputy Minister Nguyen The Phuong had a meeting with Mr. Balogh Csaba, Hungarian Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade visiting and working in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Hungarian Deputy State Secretary Balogh Csaba highly appreciated achievements of socio-economic development of Vietnam and the efforts of the MPI for Vietnam – Hungary relations. Vietnam is a strategic partner in South East Asia with key spread projects funded by Hungary. While Vietnam is graduating from ODA in the time coming, the two countries will collaborate to find out new cooperative models, expand the opportunities on such fields as health, water, e-administration, food safety…
Preparing for the official visit to Vietnam of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on September 2017, Hungary suggested the two sides to collaborate and accelerate project Can Tho Cancer Hospital, complete the portfolio using a credit worth 440 million Euro committed by Vietnam Government and Hungary Government on January 2017.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen The Phuong highly appreciated the cooperation on many fields between the two countries and said that the MPI acts as the principal body in ODA attraction, coordination and state management; guides managing agencies in formulating lists of programs and projects prioritized for ODA mobilization. Lists of those calling for ODA are summed up from requirements and proposals of ministries, branches, localities in order to ensure effectiveness in coordinating and using ODA, meeting the development demand of Vietnam. Besides advantages of Vietnam, Deputy Minister Nguyen The Phuong expressed some sectors Vietnam desire to cooperate and support such as preventive health care, overcoming post-war bomb and mine consequences, environmental protection, coping with climate change… The both sides will review and select projects to use this credit effectively and outline cooperative orientations in the coming time.
Vietnam is a low middle income country, having big demands on socio-economic development, sustainable development goals, green growth… Deputy Minister Nguyen The Phuong desired to continue receiving ODA and preferential loans from international partners and institutions generally and Hungary particularly in the time coming./.
