(MPI) - With the permission of the Prime Minister, on April 15, 2020, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and National Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) virtually signed a $42 million limited Framework Agreement on "Improving Vietnam's Economic Competitiveness" to support the Ministry of Planning and Investment with the aim of improving the economic competitiveness of Vietnam through the areas of cooperation including: Private sector competitiveness, Innovation and startup ecosystems, and human capital.
Within the framework of this agreement, in the field of "Private sector competitiveness", USAID and the Ministry of Planning and Investment will cooperate to enhance the capacity of Vietnam's small and growing businesses as well as creating a favorable environment for them to access technology to strengthen their competitiveness, business management skills and capital.
For the cooperation field of "Innovation and startup ecosystems, and human capital", the two sides will foster greater entrepreneurship; enable deeper linkages of Vietnamese startups to corporations, investment funds, and other supporting organizations in the international innovation and startup ecosystems; and strengthen high-quality human capital needed for a robust knowledge-based economy./.
