Eszter Torda, international advisor of Hungary’s Aqui-sanitas company, pledged to assist the province in investment attraction, especially to water supply infrastructure, wastewater and solid waste treatment.
According to Le Tien Chau, Chairman of the People’s Committee, 90 percent of urban and 45 percent of rural residents in Hau Giang have access to clean water. The province aims to supply clean water to all of its population in the next few years.
He, however, pointed to a range of difficulties facing the local water supply system like limited resources due to climate change, drought and saltwater intrusion, water pollution as a result of industrial and farming activities, downgrading pipelines and water losses.
In addition, the province now lacks urban wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste treatment facilities, he said./.
