Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang works with Korean Ambassador to Vietnam
(MPI) - On May 15, 2020, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Vu Dai Thang had a meeting with Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh-wan to discuss some contents to restore business activities and develop bilateral cooperation due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Park Noh-wan highly appreciated Vietnam in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic and said that Vietnam and South Korea had drastic measures which were much evaluated by the international community and considered as a typical model of the world in the prevention and control of Covid-19.He alsoexpressedhisgratitude and deep respect for the support of the Government of Vietnam as well as the Ministry of Planning and Investment in creating conditions for experts from Korean businesses to return to Vietnam.This is aimed at maintaining the stable production activities of Korean enterprises in Vietnam in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, contributing to promoting investment cooperation in the new context due to the impact of the epidemic.

Ambassador Park Noh-wan via discussions with Korean businesses and expatriates in Vietnam informed that the Covid-19 epidemic had caused damage which was increasingly revealed, especially those in the textile and footwear industry, and so on. Therefore, in the current context, besides implementing measures to control the Covid-19 epidemic, the two countries need to have solutions together to normalize their business like before.In order to do this, it is necessary to establish an exchange mechanism to strengthen the exchange and cooperation relations of the two countries in a new context.

There are many Korean businesses wishing to return to operate in Vietnam and affirm their strict compliance with Vietnam's epidemic prevention measures, contributing to the recovery of Vietnam's economy as well as boosting investment promotion between the two countries in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang highly appreciated Vietnam-South Korea cooperation relationship and said that Vietnamese Government had gradually relaxed the social distance, allowing socio-economic activities to reopen. Vietnam also focused on solutions to recover the economy after the Covid-19 epidemic. Recently, the Government of Vietnam held a Prime Minister Conference with businesses, including foreign enterprises. At this conference, representatives of Korean enterprises also made reports on the situation of enterprises operating in Vietnam and proposed several specific recommendations and solutions.

Deputy Minister Vu Dai Thang said that in carrying out the assigned task, the Ministry of Planning and Investment was focusing on developing policies to revive the economy after the Covid-19 epidemic, including solutions of reopening the economy. Accordingly, the Ministry has worked with local and foreign experts to come up with solutions to revive the economy and resume investment activities, including measures to reopen the border for foreign individuals and experts travelling to Vietnam, even Korean experts.

At the meeting, the two sides concentrated on discussing about government-level credit loans, cooperation mechanisms to restore manpower exchange between Korea and Vietnam and continue working closely to provide entry to Korean experts ensuring the objectives of recovering production and business as well as prevention, dialogue mechanism to support and solve any difficulties for enterprises./.
