Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung meeting with Thai Ambassador to Vietnam
(MPI) – On July 14th, 2020, at the head office of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung met with Thai Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Tanee Sangrat.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat delivered his thanks to the Government of Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Planning and Investment in particular, who have always created the best conditions for Thai enterprises doing investment and business in Vietnam, and hoped to promote trade and investment between the two countries during his term of work.

Welcoming Ambassador Tanee Sangrat to visit and work at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung said that, Thailand and Vietnam were two ASEAN member countries, having a good and long-standing traditional relationship, bilateral investment and trade relation, which have been constantly growing over the years.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung also expressed the desire that Thai government would help Vietnam to develop the supporting industry, as this is the sector Thailand has a lot of experience, via connecting businesses to participate in the value chains. He also hoped Thailand would share experiences of reducing traffic jams in major cities.

Agreeing with the shared information by Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung, Ambassador Tanee Sangrat said that Thailand would be willing to help Vietnam to develop the supporting industry. He added that, the two countries would hold the 4th Government Cabinet meeting in 2020 as expected. Workshops of investment promotion with the participation of Thai enterprises would be held within the framework of the meeting.

Ambassador Tanee Sangrat informed that, large enterprises of Thailand in the energy sector were currently investing in the Vietnam market, including renewable and environmentally-friendly energy sectors, typically Long Son refinery project invested by SCG Group, which is Thailand's largest project in Vietnam with total registration capital of 5.4 billion. The construction of this project has been launched. The groundbreaking of Quang Tri 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant invested by the Thai International Power Company EGATI, also started at the end of 2019.

Showing his support to Thai projects in Vietnam, Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung rated them as large projects, using high and environmental-protection technology. The Ministry of Planning and Investment is committed to accompany with the Ambassador and cooperate closely with the Embassy of Thailand to Vietnam, assisting and supporting enterprises to implement projects in Vietnam in the most efficient way, contributing to strengthen Vietnam-Thailand investment cooperation, Minister Nguyen Chi Dzung emphasized./.
