(MPI) – Minister Nguyen Chi Dung worked with Cambodian Ambassador Mr. Chay Navuth in Vietnam at the head office of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on July 15th, 2021.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung at the meeting stressed that Vietnam and Cambodia are two brother countries in a long historical and traditional relations. Vietnam always hopes to foster ties with Cambodia. Minister Dung wishes Ambassador Chay Navuth and his family a good health and success in fulfilling his term of office in Vietnam; wishes Cambodia to develop more and more prosperous under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni; wishes Cambodia to quickly overcome challenges and difficulties of Covid-19 and cooperate with Vietnam to control the pandemic. The two countries need to be more united for the common goals for wining the pandemic, economic development and deeper integration into ASEAN.
Ambassador Chay Navuth thanked Minister Dung for taking the time to welcome him and congratulated Minister on being re-appointed as the member of 13th Party Central Committee and Minister of Planning and Investment for the period of 2021-2026. He congratulated the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels had succeeded. It is believed that the Party and State leaders of Vietnam would continue to make the country thrive and the first session of the 15th National Assembly would take place successfully on July 20th, 2021.
Minister Dung agreed and highly appreciated the cooperation between the two countries over the past time. Vietnam and Cambodia have good political relations and always support each other in the region and international for a. Two countries are the traditional and reliable partners in making border markers and well coordinating in defense and security.
To further boosting the cooperation relationship between the two nations, Minister Dung said that it was important to closely coordinate in the development and implementation of the joint programs and plans on investment, trade and tourism; especially implementing the 2012 Protocol on amending and adding the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement; the signed Agreement on avoiding double taxation; closely cooperating to solve difficulties and problems of enterprises; and having incentive policies to encourage investment in difficult and extremely difficult socio-economic areas.
Accelerating the negotiation of signing and effectively implementing bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements; soon developing new cooperation agreements; ensuring investment and business activities and solving difficulties, problems for enterprises. Simplifying procedures of cross-border transportation of goods, preserving agricultural products, inspecting quality to contributing to reducing costs of labor and transportation. Allowing businesses to adjust their overall plans that can be adapted to geographical conditions, land and market.
As the management agency of foreign investment, the MPI is willing to coordinate with the Cambodian Embassy to accompany and solve difficulties, problems of enterprises; and create the most favorable conditions for enterprises to invest and do business effectively.
The Cambodian Embassy thanked Minister Dung for his recommendations and said that they were willing to listen to investors’s opinions and solve their problems. Ambassador Chay Navuth said that the most important task is to attract investors to do business in Cambodia during this term. The Ambassador will notify his country of Minister’s recommendations and opinions to solve all difficulties and challenges in order to promote investment in Cambodia. Ambassador Chay Navuth hoped that Vietnamese and Cambodian investors would organize a webinar to discuss difficulties and problems.
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highly appreciated Ambassador Chay’s opinions and said that there must be a good institution, an open and favorable environment, clear and long-term stable policies and new policies that must be in line with international practices to attract investment and trade. He also believed that investors’ problems would be solved soon so that they could feel secure to invest and do business./.
