(MPI) - The Innovation Leaders Forum, themed “Leading Corporations and Enterprises Spearheading Innovation” was held in Hanoi on October 30, with Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung attending the event.

Deputy Minister Trung said that large corporations and businesses are considered a crucial component of the innovation ecosystem, influencing Vietnam’s shifting of economic structures. The role of major corporations and enterprises is becoming important amid the growing innovation ecosystem.

According to the Global Innovation Index (GII) in 2023 released by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Vietnam leapt two places and continued to be record holders by being innovation overperformers for a 13th consecutive year. The country also is among the most impressive innovation climbers among lower middle-income countries in the overall GII.

Deputy Minister Trung emphasised that all components in the ecosystem need to join hands, promote their role, enhance cohesion and support each other to fully boost innovation development.

He also believed that the forum will strengthen connections and promote innovation in Vietnam, thereby bringing cooperation opportunities for businesses and startups to take part in the value chain of large corporations and enterprises.

Ambassador of Sweden to Vietnam Ann Måwe affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Vietnam, suggesting the two sides to foster cooperation in energy, sustainable development and digital development. She said that innovation is the main driving force to help Vietnam achieve its goal of becoming a developed and high-income country by 2045, and NIC Hoa Lac has demonstrated the country’s commitment to promoting innovation for a rapid and sustainable development.

On this occasion, a number of memorandum of understanding on cooperation between NIC and Petrolimex, and innovation businesses were signed under the witness of Deputy Minister Dong, aiming to realise Vietnam’s breakthrough ideas in innovation.

The Innovation Handbook For Business was also officially introduced by NIC and BambuUp. It provides strategic directions and advice for businesses, corporations, and startups to effectively innovate, fully tap resources and actively cooperate. This is also a chance for enterprises to have ideas and solutions as well as opportunities to participate in solving problems of major corporations and enterprises./.
