The Vietnam Young Initiative Programme - InnoCity 2021 Kick-off Ceremony
(MPI) – The Vietnam Young Initiative programme - InnoCity 2021 was launched at a ceremony in online forms in Vietnam, linking 150 places in 16 countries around the world in the afternoon of August 19th, 2021.

The ceremony includes Mr. Pham Viet Anh as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Netherlands; Mr. Pham Quang Thao as Vice President of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations,; Mr. Ngo Huong Nam as Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, ; Mr. Tran Xuan Bacg as Member of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation, General Secretary of the Global Young Vietnamese Intellectuals Network, and Ambassadors, Deputy Ambassadors of Vietnam to Austria, Germany, Belgium, Finland and so on.

Vu Quoc Huy, Director of National Innovation Center (NIC) under the MPI was pleased to attend the Kick-off Event of the Vietnam Young Initiative Programme - InnoCity 2021. This event has been paid attention by NIC since its launch in Europe. The programme has been invested with efforts, intelligence and enthusiasm of many young intellectuals studying, researching and working in Europe, and turning their hearts to the homeland and country in the current context. Therefore, in order to bring influences of the Programme on a global scale and attract more Vietnamese intellectuals’ ideas, solutions to the country's current problems, NIC decided to accompany and support the Organizing Committee of InnoCity to promote activities and connect more widely with domestic and foreign experts, organizations and businesses. This is also NIC’s mission to gather resources to support Vietnamese intellectuals’ innovative activities and serve the development and growth goals of the country.

Resolution No. 52-NQ/TW dated September 27th, 2019 of the Politburo on some guidelines and policies has identified the core contents to actively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Specifically,promoting the science technology and innovation of all industries, fields, and boosting national digital transformation. The Resolution points out that “It is necessary to have an pilot open and creative approach to newly posed practical problems, creating all favorable conditions for innovation” to promote innovation across all industries and fields. The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress has emphasized on the roles of innovation in our country’s development in the coming time and set forth the guiding view-points that there is a breakthrough mechanism to attract and utilize talents, promote innovation, strongly apply science and technology, especially achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to create strong efforts for rapid and sustainable development.”

In the current context, Vietnam is facing many difficults to achieve the dual goal of fighting the pandemic and ensuring the economic recovery. Experts and intellectuals recommend many solutions and proposals to the Government and relevant agencies to practially implement. The Government and the Prime Minister are also interested in solutions and initiatives of new technologies to trace, support anti-pandemic, improve people’ lives; and protect the health while the whole country is fighting the pandemic. Many solutions have been put into practice. In addition to proposing economic solutions to support people and enterprises, the Ministry of Planning and Investment is also concern about social and security solutions to support people and patients during the pandemic. In that context, the resources of experts, intellectuals have been readying to contribute when the country needs, and the more difficulties and challenges are faced, the more innovative solutions are needed to bring advanced research and technology to life, directly solve problems that conventional solutions cannot meet.

The Vietnam Young Initiative Programme - InnoCity 2021 was timely organized and achieved positive results initially. Mr. Vu Quoc Huy hoped that the Programme would receive attention and supports from partners and the social communities to create a larger spillover effect and become an annual event attracting many effective projects, bringing practical results in solving problems for society and businesses.

InnoCity 2021 is the Young Vietnamese Initiative Programme initiated by the Union of Vietnamese Students in Europe with the desire to gather young Vietnamese intellectuals and call for contributions and dedication to the country from young people studying and working abroad. InnoCity 2021 Programme is sponsored by the NIC for the goal of Vietnam’s socio-economic recovery after the pandemic. This Programme is also a bridge linking resources to support Vietnamese innovation on a global scale./.
