At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung stressed that strengthening cooperation with the UN was a priority of the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The UN has made numerous contributions and supports to Vietnam in general and the MPI in particular. UN organizations have aided Vietnam from the post-war reconstruction period to the period of breaking blockade and embargo, gradually intergrating into the world through financial, technological, consulting support and policies, ideas for socio-economic development, building and completing the legal and institutional systems. Currently, UN organizations have supported the MPI in performing the focal role of the Agenda for sustainable development, completing institutions on business registration, green growth, greening economic zones and innovation promotion. These are most necessary and important areas for a developing country like Vietnam.

The world today is unpredictable, posing many challenges such as political tensions, commercial disputes, natural disasters, pandemics, etc. Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hoped that the UN would continue to support and accompany Vietnam, especially in terms of COVID-19 vaccines and medical equipment, helping Vietnam achieve development goals, participate in global supply chains and further develop, not to be left behind.

Mr. Kamal Malhotra said that the UN has accompanied Vietnam for the past 40 years. Even when Vietnam is facing enormous challenges, the UN is always there to help Vietnam recover and develop in the new situation.

The top priority of the UN is to support Vietnam with as many vaccines as possible in the belief that Vietnam will stop virus spread, overcome challenges and take hold of opportunities to further develop, as Mr. Kamal Malhotra stressed.

To show acknowledgement of the achievements and contributions of Mr. Kamal Malhotra in the process of promoting the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the UN to be more practical, effective and comprehensively developed, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has presented the Achievement Award "For the Career of Vietnam’s Planning and Investment" to Mr. Kamal Malhotra./.
