(MPI) – Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc worked with General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Hoo at the head office of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on September 10th, 2021.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc considered the fourth COVID-19 outbreak caused a serious impact on the economy of Vietnam, especially of Ho Chi Minh City and some Southern provinces in some sectors in life, health, economy, etc. and Vietnamese and foreign-invested enterprises were affected. The Vietnamese Government always listens and shares difficulties with foreign enterprises investing in Vietnam, including Samsung Vietnam. Deputy Minister Ngoc also hoped that Samsung Vietnam could support the Government to approach vaccines and medical equipment for the COVID-19’s prevention and control.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed and promulgated the Decision No. 1447/QD-TTg on August 30th, 2021 on establishing a special working group of the Prime Minister on removing difficulties for businesses and people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Planning and Investment, as a permanent agency, will summarize difficulties, obstacles and recommendations of businesses and people, and give proposals to the Prime Minister for getting timely directions and solutions. The Resolution No. 105/NQ-CP promulgated by the Government onSeptember 9th, 2021 on supporting enterprises, cooperatives and business households to stabilize production and business; recover and develop in the coming time with the goal of timely removing difficulties and problems caused by negative impacts of the COVID-19.

Choi Joo Hoo as General Director of Samsung Vietnam thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc for taking time to welcome him and congratuled her on receiving the position in April. He said that Samsung Vietnam would try their best to find the vaccine sources to support Vietnam.

During the last fourth outbreak, Samsung Vietnam has faced some difficulties in maintaining production activities, especially in the great affect on the factory closure in Bac Giang. However, the difficulties were gradually overcome and production was recovered to normal operation thanks to timely supports by the Prime Minister, agencies, departments and localities.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho said that building up the trust for foreign investors is a positive signal to develop a stable investment policy of Vietnam and hoped thatthe competitiveness in attracting foreign investment to Vietnam would also be enhanced in accordance with global changes. He also proposed that the Government and relevant ministries, agencies have policies to support enterprises in preventing operation from interruption.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc highly appreciated Samsung Vietnam’s comments and said that the first priority of Vietnam was currently vaccines. The Government and ministries, line ministries, localities hoped that organizations and enterprises would have the best support of vaccines for Vietnam. The Vietnamese Government expects that the vaccinationwill be free for all people, and foreigners working in international organizations in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Government always tries its best to both prevent the pandemic and maintain production and business through the current difficult time. This is a very important solution to ensure stable production to the new normal.

To prevent enterprises from interruption in production chains, the MPI has proposed to the Government and the Prime Minister to prioritize vaccination for workers in industrial parks, including Samsung Vietnam. The MPI also advises and recommends to the Prime Minister to have the development plan, strengthen the health capacity of localities after the pandemic; develop mechanisms and policies to make investors assured to do business in Vietnam./.
