At the meeting, Chief Representative Toru AGUIN summarized the survey report on investment environment in 2021 and the workshop “Research on Japanese businesses’ expectations of Vietnamese policies to attract high-quality foreign investment”, which will be organized in March 2022. Accordingly, the report was published at the end of 2021 with a total of 515 companies giving valid responses, including a ranking of promising countries/regions for business investment. Vietnam ranked the fourth and was among the top of ASEAN countries for three consecutive years. This showed that Japanese firms consider Vietnam as one of the attractive investment destinations for medium and long term.

JBIC has fostered Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and provided many loans to boost Japanese FDI into Vietnam over the past time. Mr. Toru AGUIN expressed his gratitude toward the care of the MPI during JBIC’s operation and said that Vietnam had strengths in the electronics industry and high-quality human resources, making the country a safe investment destination for Japanese businesses.

JBIC has always encouraged Japanese SMEs to invest and expand their production and business in Vietnam. Mr. Toru AGUIN hoped that Vietnam’s investment policies and incentives would be more favorable, creating the best conditions for Japanese businesses that have been operating in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc thanked and highly appreciated JBIC in boosting investment activities of Japanese firms in Vietnam, especially those are SMEs. Numerous Japanese firms have their own potentials and advantages for development, and to attract those firms, specifically SMEs, is also in line with the orientation of Vietnam. The MPI is willing to cooperate with JBIC to create the best conditions, as well as to answer inquiries/problems about the investment environment to promote Japanese businesses to invest in Vietnam./.
