Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc receives Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry
(MPI) - Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc received visiting Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) HIROSE Naoshi at the head office of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on April 20.

Congratulating Naoshi’ visit to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, DM Ngoc said that this would enhance the multifaceted relations of Vietnam and Japan to match the comprehensive strategic partnership, for the trust and prosperity of the Asia region.

Japan ranked the second in total number of countries/territories investing in Vietnam and the two governments have a close connection, especially in economic development. The deputy minister hopes that Vietnam and Japan will boost cooperation in the future, towards the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties (1973-2023).

The MPI applauded the ASIA-Japan Investing for the Future Initiative that newly-announced by the METI Minister with three ideal images: improving attractiveness of ASEAN as a hub of global supply chain; creating innovation to enhance sustainability and solve social challenges; promoting energy transition.

Vietnam’s commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2050 at COP26 mark a remarkable advance despite being a developing country. The deputy minister asked Japan to support Vietnam in promoting clean energy projects, green financial mechanisms to realize the set goals and developing high-quality human resources.

The Vietnam-Japan joint initiative has contributed to creating an open, transparent business environment and remove obstacles for Japanese enterprises investing in Vietnam. Vietnam always hopes to further attract investment in such fields as scientific research, education and training, digital transformation, supporting industries technology transfer; help Vietnam to participate in the global supply chain.

The MPI attaches importance to Japanese enterprises’ investment in Vietnam and hopes to develop the two countries’ investment cooperation models in an extensive manner. The ministry will work closely with Japanese agencies, especially the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to implement the initiative with specific projects in the future.

As stated by Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry HIROSE Naoshi, Japan wants to diversify cooperation with the ASEAN region, particularly Vietnam to recover and re-develop the economy after the pandemic.

Vietnam actively transitions to green energy, implements green growth strategy and develops digital economy with the goal of being carbon neutral and followed the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Mr. HIROSE Naoshi highlighted Vietnam’s advance and stressed that there are opportunities for the two sides to deepen cooperation in all fields.

The Vietnam-Japan Investment Conference was successfully organized during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Japan in November 2021. The two prime ministers agreed on three initiatives on innovation, strengthened supply chain and digital transformation. Naoshi thanked the MPI for many practical activities to strengthen the investment environment in Vietnam./.
