(MPI) - Minister Nguyen Chi Dung chaired a seminar consulting the World Bank (WB)’s experts about a report on the National Master Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 on August 16.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that as no precedent has been set before, the building of the master planning is an essential and also new task that requires integrated approach and wide scope. The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) is collecting domestic and foreign experts, ministries, sectors and localities’ feedback on the planning; studying experiences from Republic of Korea and Malaysia, the two countries have similarities and high level of development in the region, in organizing and building national and regional planning.
The goals of Vietnam’s national master planning are suitable to the country’s growth ambitious targets to become a developing country with modern industry and upper middle income by 2030, and a high-income developed nation by 2045.
Priorities of the national master planning will be given to the establishment and development of economic corridors, locomotive zones, growth poles and national infrastructure framework; especially the central region (driving force) of growth, conservation areas, disaster prevention zones and the harmonisation of urban and rural areas.
Minister Dung stressed that between now and 2030, the national master plan’ priority will be given to the establishment and development, then gradually focus on harmonisation and sustainability among regions and localities.

Steffi Stallmeister, Vice Country Director of the World Bank in Vietnam congratulated Vietnam on the national master planning' final draft , which is a tough and complicated task due to its large scale. She pointed some major contents in the draft to balance and prioritise Vietnam’ development goals; address difficulties in the implementation, resources and dynamic priority areas; strengthen coordination to improve the public investment process and disbursement.
Concluding the conference, Minister Dung highly appreciated enthusiastic opinions and feedbacks of WB and domestic experts; affirmed that the MPI will continue to study to complete the draft. He expressed his hopes to continue to strengthen cooperation and specify WB’s support, as well as of domestic and foreign experts, ministries, line ministries and localities to Vietnam in the process of developing and completing the planning, wih the goal of creating new growth momentum for rapid and sustainable development./.
