Mid-term meeting of the Cooperation Committee of Vietnam and Laos in 2022
(MPI) - Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment of Vietnam Nguyen Chi Dung, chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Committee and his Lao counterpart Khamjane Vongphosy, who is also chairman of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee co-chaired an online mid-term meeting of the two countries’ cooperation committee on August 17.

In the reception for visiting Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI)’s delegation and Laos-Vietnam cooperation committee, Minister Dung hailed the positive achievements in all sectors of Laos and said, the meeting will bring practical outcomes with special solidarity and friendship between Laos and Vietnam.

The minister informed about the socio-economic situation of Vietnam in the first months of 2022 as the country’ economy has positive recovery and its GDP is in best-case scenario. Vietnam is also spoke highly by the international community with the stable macro-economy, controlled inflation and secured major balances.

He stressed a number of difficulties, obstacles as well as solutions on socio-economic development and management; and shared some learned lessons of the Vietnamese MPI.

He hailed the results of Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Agreement in the first seven months of 2022 and discussed key sectors to promote the two countries’ collaboration in the last months, noting the two sides had speed up their cooperation in politics, security-defense, investment and trade.

These outstanding results have contributed to deepening Vietnam-Laos ties with trust and oriented its relations. The two countries well implemented joint declaration and state-level agreements since the beginning of the year despite complicated development of the world economy and politics.

Minister Dung stated, Vietnam’s consistent policy is to attach importance and prioritise the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, considering it as a priceless asset and a factor of vital significance to each Party and nation.

He asked the two sides continue to improve the effectiveness of the cooperation mechanism, especially the annual meeting of the two Politburos and Intergovernmental Committee; coordinate to materialise the commitments reached at the 44th session; promote ministries, sectors and localities to effectively implement the committed agreements to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations (1962-2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the bilateral Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (1977-2022).

For his part, Lao Minister Khamjane Vongphosy hoped the two sides will continue to strengthen their coordination, believed that this meeting will contribute to further enhancing the traditional friendship of Vietnam and Laos and the two countries’ MPI.

Both Vietnam and Lao shared some cooperation results between the two countries, committees and ministries over the past time. They agreed on some concrete contents to strengthen their coordination and speed up the implementation of key projects, toward the celebration of the Solidarity and Friendship Year./.
