(MPI) - The National Innovation Center (NIC), under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) in collaboration with the Association of Military Enterprises (AME) held the “Innovation in Manufacturing Quality Management for Entering the Global Value Chain” conference in Hanoi on April 24. Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong and Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Deputy Minister of National Defence co-chaired the event.

The conference, part of the Vietnam Innovation Initiative (InnovateVN) initiated by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, offered an opportunity to increase the innovation capacity of military businesses in manufacturing quality management towards sustainability, and opened prospects for them to participate in the global value chain.
Addressing the event, MPI Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong said that the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) offers both opportunities and challenges for each country’s development. Therefore, the Party and the State of Vietnam have asked ministries and sectors to speed up the application and development of science-technology and innovation in order to take part in the 4IR.
The cooperation between the MPI and MoD is an important milestone and a premise in order to promote innovation for businesses, creating a platform for entities in the ecosystem to boost connectivity and support each other towards resilient development, he added.
The deputy minister suggested Ministry of National Defence (MoD) create optimal conditions for their universities and institutions during their cooperation process with NIC to promote innovation, digital transformation and technology transfer and application in Vietnam. He also encouraged them to hold activities within the framework of the InnovateVN and train high-quality human resources for innovation activities.
Cooperation agreements between NIC, AME and the General Department of Defense Industry were signed at the conference. These collaborations are considered to make contribution to resilience improvement for military enterprises in the NIC ecosystem and expanding innovation networks, bringing Vietnam’s brands worldwide.
Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San said he hopes the MPI, NIC, other ministries, domestic and international businesses will continue to assist and accompany military enterprises in raising their capacity and boosting innovation to increase product quality, joining the global supply chains./.
