Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association contributes to deepening the bilateral relations
(MPI) - At a ceremony celebrates the 38th founding anniversary of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association (VGFA) in Hanoi on May 16, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Chairman of the association said that the VGFA has hold various practical activities since its establishment, actively contributing to strengthening the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said the Germany-Vietnam Friendship Association, founded in 1976 by professor Günter Giesenfeld, is a long-term and trustworthy partner of the VGFA. The association has worked to build relationships and connections between agencies of the two nations, and promote development cooperation and humanitarian activities such as support for disabled children, agent orange/dioxin child victims, and scholarships provision for poor students in Vietnam.

According to the minister, the VGFA holds various activities and actively devotes with the Party and the State in fostering the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership. Members of the association donated 80 thousand masks worth 1 billion VND to Germany in 2022, demonstrating the great friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The minister said he believes with its dynamic activities, the VGFA will continue to pay attention to strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, meeting the interests of the two peoples, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

German Ambassador to Vietnam Guido Hildner stressed the importance of the association, adding that their donation of 80 thousand face masks to German friends amid Covid-19 is a valuable gift.

The diplomat congratulated the association on major achievements over the last years, adding that he hopes the Germany-Vietnam bilateral ties would be further enhanced and strengthened, and the cooperation between two agencies and organisations would be flourished thanks to their contributions.

Professor Giesenfeld, Chairman of the Germany Friendship Association with Vietnam, expressed his delight at the growing relations between the two countries that demonstrated trust and willingness to support each other.

He also suggested both sides pay attention to social and human factors, pledging that the German association stands ready to support Vietnamese people./.
