(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong held a meeting with chiefs of Vietnamese representative offices aboard for the 2023-2026 tenure in Hanoi on May 23.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Phuong emphasised the important role of representative agencies aboard in foreign policies and economic diplomacy, which are drastically implemented by the Government in order to promote the country’s socio-economic development.
He asked the diplomats to persistently and flexible implement the foreign policy of the Party and the State, and the Secretariat’s Directive No. 15-CT/TW dated August 8, 2022 on economic diplomacy for national development by 2030.
The deputy minister suggested the diplomats encourage more foreign investors to explore investment and business opportunities in Vietnam, maintain close links with ministries, agencies and localities at home to facilitate investment attraction, and bolster economic cooperation as well as sincerity and trust between Vietnam and the international community.
Representatives of the Ministry of Planning and Investment at the meeting reviewed the country’s socio-economic situation in 2023 and orientations for the 2023-2026 period, updated Vietnam’s management and use of official development assistance (ODA) and concessional loans from foreign donors, and provided information on the country’s FDI attraction orientations in the coming time. They affirmed that the ministry will work closely with the diplomats to exchange ideas in promoting foreign firms to Vietnam.
On behalf of 16 diplomats and ambassadors work in 48 countries and territories worldwide, Ngo Huong Nam, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands, pledged their determination to fulfill assigned tasks and follow the Government’s orientations on trade and investment promotion.
He hoped to receive assistance from the MPI to effectively implement diplomatic activities, thus contributing to make Vietnam one of the top FDI destination./.
