The Government chief recently gave a nod to Ha Noi’s master plan for transportation by 2030 with a vision to 2050.
The master plan covers an administrative area of over 3,344 km2, with a population of around 6.23 million in 2008, and surrounding areas of Hanoi
The master plan was composed in line with the socio-economic development plan, the planning of land use by 2020 and the capital city’s construction master plan to 2030 with a vision to 2050.
As planned, the local infrastructure network will be developed in synchronous, sustainable and modern manner in order to facilitate travel of residents and ease traffic jams and accidents in Hanoi.
Under the master plan, the Government chief requested inferiors to map out the transport planning schemes in three categories including:
- First, schemes on transportation structure: outward transportation (road, railway, waterway, and aviation), urban transportation (central and satellite areas) as well as rural transportation;
- Second, schemes on public transportation for passengers to inter-connect central and satellite areas as well as concentrated residential areas;
- Third, schemes on parking areas.
The master plan also touches upon the necessity to allocate land for transport development as well as outline measures for transport management and investment attraction.
The Municipal People’s Committee of Ha Noi was assigned to set up the schemes which should be assessed by the Ministry of Construction./.
