In the afternoon June 29, 2011 the General Statistics Office (GSO) held a press conference to release the socio-economic statistical data for the first half of 2011. Mr. Do Thuc, Director-General of GSO chaired the meeting.

Representatives from GSO’s units, line ministries and mass media agencies attended this event.
Mr. Do Thuc presented highlightsof the socio-economic situation and positive outputs in the first six-month period. The economy has maintained a reasonable growth with higher increase in the second quarter than that in the first one. CPI of months at end of Q. II has slowed down with a tendency of gradual decrease. Some sectors have achieved considerable results. Social security has been changed positively.
After that, Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Director of the Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Statistics Department of GSO informed of basic contents of the 2011 Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery Census. Mr. Nguyen The Quan, Deputy Director of the Social and Environmental Statistics Department of GSO proclaimed results of the People’s Living Standard Survey, 2010.
During the meeting, representatives from line ministries and mass media agencies raised many questions about statistics and assessments of GSO. All of them were replied satisfactorily by leaders of GSO and subject departments.
