(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong hosted a reception for outgoing Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang in Hanoi on October 2.

Deputy Minister Phuong congratulated Houngboungnuang on his excellent performance during the tenure and his important contributions to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
He hailed the ambassador and the Lao embassy in Vietnam for their close coordination with Vietnamese agencies to successfully organise various activities in both politics, economy, and culture and society to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022 as well as the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
Many key projects such as the inauguration of Nong Khang Airport and the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Hospital in Laos have contributed to promoting the linkage and socio-economic development of both two countries, towards enhancing the Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.
Vietnam will continue sharing its experience with and providing support for Laos in training macroeconomic management cadres. The deputy minister wished that the ambassador would continue contributing even more to the friendship and special relationship between Vietnam and Laos in his new role.
Houngboungnuang, for his part, thanked the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam for always caring and support Laos. He also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Planning and Investment for their close cooperation with him to fulfil his mission during the tenure.
The ambassador hailed effective cooperation between the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam cooperation committees as the two countries still maintain high-level visits, increase Vietnamese investment in Laos and people-to-people exchanges despite, and implement important projects that strongly promoting Laos’ socio-economic development.
He pledged to nurture the Vietnam-Laos bilateral relationship in any future position./.
