The national digital transformation programme until 2025 with a vision to 2030 was issued in 2020, with priority be given to promoting digital transformation in businesses to enhance national competitiveness and capacity of domestic enterprises. Vietnam expects its digital economy to account for 20 percent of GDP by 2025, and 30 percent of GDP by 2030. October 10 has been chosen as the National Digital Transformation Day to demonstrate the determination of the Party, State to continue promoting national digital transformation.
Since 2021, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has actively coordinated with various ministries, localities, and associations to deploy policies supporting digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in accordance with business support laws.
The initiative has also mobilized international resources from numerous organizations, directly training nearly 14,200 businesses in 63 provinces and cities; establishing a network of over 150 digital transformation consultants to develop a digital ecosystem for businesses; and providing in-depth consulting support for about 400 businesses (approximately 32,000 expert hours) to develop and implement digital transformation roadmaps, supporting the application of technology improvements in business management and production processes.
The portal https://digital.business.gov.vn has attracted over 2 million visits, training materials, reports, videos, and solution information have been downloaded approximately 32,000 times; nearly 5,000 businesses have assessed their readiness for digital transformation.
Dennis Quennet, GIZ Director Sustainable Economic Development stressed that digital transformation creates many opportunities that will positively contribute to efforts to reduce emissions. Currently, dual transformation has become a new global trend, where digital solutions are applied to better manage environmental issues, aiming for green growth and sustainable development.
Additionally, digital transformation helps small and medium enterprises improve productivity, facilitates market access, and enhances their competitive capacity in a strongly globalizing context, he added.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Phuong stressed that as the advisory body on socio-economic development strategies, the MPI has proposed and presented numerous policies for innovation, digital transformation and sustainable development with a viewpoint of promoting digital transformation in enterprises to improve national competitiveness and capacity of domestic enterprises.
In recent times, the ministry has actively negotiated and worked with reputable technology units in Vietnam to build support frameworks and tailored solution packages for SMEs within its support scope, helping to minimize costs from consulting or digital solutions to enhance business efficiency.
This initiative contributes to fostering a pioneering spirit in innovation and digital transformation; transferring technology from corporations and conglomerates, enhancing effectiveness in leading businesses, and responsibility towards the community, he noted.
On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation to support SMEs in digital transformation for the 2024-2025 period was signed. Under the MoU, major solution providers will actively participate in and provide resources for SMEs in Vietnam in order to evaluate the level of digital transformation.
The signing between the MPI and five technology companies (MobiFone, MISA JSC, FPT Smart Cloud, 1C Vietnam, and CMC Technology & Solutions) has established tailored solution packages for small and medium enterprises, helping to minimize consulting costs or digital solutions to enhance business effectiveness.
It contributes to promoting the pioneering role in innovation, digital transformation and technology transfer, improving production and business efficiency, and accelerating the digital transformation in SMES to become quicker and more effective./.
