(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung had a working session in Hanoi on March 8 with Dagmar Vogel, in charge of Infrastructure Financing, Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), to discuss the situation of public investment in infrastructure in Vietnam, especially in the form of public-private partnerships (PPP).

Deputy Minister Trung highly appreciated the cooperation programme of SECO for Vietnam for the 2021-2024 period, which was developed in line with the strategy and development orientation of Vietnam, especially the PPP investment projects.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) always acknowledges the close coordination of SECO in the initial research, establishment of institutional regulations, and promotion of the implementation of joint projects between the two sides. The deputy minister mentioned that Vietnamese agencies and ministries are always striving to resolve any difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing PPP projects to ensure that the regulations and institutions are synchronised in the implementation.

He asked SECO to continue supporting Vietnam in building programmes for training officials in policy, institutional, and strategic planning, and provide financial support to Vietnam in the field of public investment for infrastructure, especially related to investment mechanisms in the form of PPP, which aligns with the development goals of Vietnam.

For her part, Vogel thanked Deputy Minister Trung for taking time to meet with the delegation, and sharing some investment situations of SECO in infrastructure development globally, as well as seeking the possibility of Switzerland supporting financially for Vietnam in public investment in infrastructure, especially in PPP.

Vogel said that SECO is always interested in learning about and implementing key-scale infrastructure projects in Vietnam. She also shared about some cooperation programmes, funding, and activities related to the financial planning framework of SECO through the World Bank for Vietnamese ministries and agencies./.
