(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong had a meeting on March 8 with Des Teso, Director of Enterprise, External Affairs and Legal for the ASEAN region, Microsoft, to exchange information about the corporation’s orientations and plans in Vietnam.

After hearing updates on the operational situation and development strategy of Microsoft, Deputy Minister Dong highly appreciated the commitments and expansion plans of the corporation in Vietnam, as well as numerous cooperation programmes with Vietnamese sectors and community support in the past time.

Vietnam always encourages doing activities in science, technology and innovation, considering it a top national policy and a strategic breakthrough in the new phase, and also main driving force to promote growth and create advances in productivity, quality, and efficiency.

The deputy minister asked Microsoft to cooperate with the National Innovation Center (NIC), MPI, to promote practical investment activities, including the development of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI), which are in line with NIC’s key areas. The MPI will coordinate with relevant ministries and sectors to provide guidance on regulations and institutions suitable for the corporation’s projects in the coming time.

For his part, Teso thanked Vietnamese ministries and agencies for their close cooperation with Microsoft to facilitate investment and business activities in Vietnam.

He emphasised that Vietnam has always been a new and potential market in the region, affirming that the corporation would explore opportunities and promote cooperation with NIC to find areas that align with the orientations of both sides./.
