Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung welcomes Sustainable Food Systems Ireland representative

(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung and representative of the Sustainable Food Systems Ireland (SFSI) on March 15 hold a technical working session on the implementation of Ireland and Vietnam Agrifood Partnership (IVAP) at the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The IVAP’s purpose through technical support is to study and share Ireland’s cooperative development experiences, including sharing successful models in sustainable agricultural development linked to value chain development involving cooperatives, enterprises, and stakeholders from Ireland and around the world.

The programme also aims to research and develop a legal handbook and new Sate support policies that cooperatives should be aware of; study sustainable production methods and market development opportunities towards exporting agricultural products from cooperative regions; provide deep consultation and research on issues related to cooperative organisation, such as enhancing member awareness and promoting their role in management and activities of the cooperative; and provide transparency in governance, asset management, capital mobilisation, and profit distribution within cooperatives.

SFSI Director Davi Butler stated that the cooperation programme between Ireland and Vietnam on agriculture and food focuses on building a sustainable production system, food safety and food transformation, enhancing creativity and quality of agriculture and food to support Vietnam towards a reduced emission and sustainable agriculture. This also to has capable of providing clean, nutritious food for the population and enhancing transparency, sustainable competition in the food value chain.

Deputy Minister Trung thanked Ireland for its support and partnership and asked Ireland side share experiences with Vietnam to create valuable development products. He also suggested both sides focus on deep research on products that ensure increased food supply, food security and increasing communication to achieve the highest efficiency./.
